Your mixtape to her. It’s like you wrote every note with your own fingers.
Tell her how much you love her with music. If you need a Valentine’s Day Idea. How about a Valentine’s Day Playlist.
Here are Chicago Wedding DJs faves. What are yours?
This inspiration came from Chicago Soul, Tyler Clark The Chirp Blog
1) The Impressions, “Talking About My Baby” (1964)
Key Line: “And when she walks that walk/ I can’t help but feel that she’s for real/ And when she talks that talk/ I can’t quite explain just how I feel”
Use On Your Mix When: You need to express the inexpressible quality of your love, which is pretty much the point of mixtapes anyway.
My fave version by Steve Tyrell
2) Herb Alpert, “This Guys In Love With You” (1969)
Key Line: “You see this guy/ This guy’s in love with you/ Yes, I’m in love/ who looks at you the way I do?”
Use On Your Mix When: Use it when you want the guy in you to express your love to her.
Nice version by TJ Taotug
3) Stevie Wonder, “Ribbon In The Sky” (1982)
Key Line: “If allowed may I touch your hand/and if pleased may I once again/ So that you too will understand/ there’s a ribbon in the sky for our love”
Use On Your Mix When: You want to touch her hand and move in closer.
A BBC version, with a bunch of artists, and a cool video.
4) The Beach Boys, “God Only Knows” (1966)
“I’ll Make Love to You” – Boyz II Men 1994
Key Line: “God only knows what I’d be with out you”
Use On Your Mix When: This is the don’t ever leave me song. The atmosphere in this song is so eternally ethereal it just floats through the air.
My fave version, a remake with Shania Twain. I like the way the beat moves in this song.
5) Lionel Richie-ft. Shania Twain, “Endless Love” (2012)
Key Line: “No one can deny / this love I have inside/ and I give it all to you/ my love/ my endless love”
Use On Your Mix When: When there’s no denying, when you want to say this will never end.
Brian Mcknight Jazz Cafe, 22nd January 2013. AWESOME!
1) Van Morrison, “Crazy Love” (1970)
Key Line: ALL OF THEM “I can hear her heart beat for a thousand miles/ And the heavens open up every time she smiles/ And when I come to her that’s just where I belong/ Yet I’m running to her like a rivers song”
Use On Your Mix When: It’s late at night, and you light some candles. Just saying’.
