How ChicagoWeddingDJs Gets Work Done
Peter Merkle is no stranger to the stresses of wedding planning. His aptly-named Wedding DJ, Uplighting, PhotoBooth service, ChicagoWeddingDJs, has team members with a City of Chicago distinction.
The nature of their business—supporting the diverse wedding planning needs of wedding couples—requires them to be as well-coordinated as Cirque du Soleil acrobats, and as nimble as an NFL linebacker. His terrific staff of both support and full time employees prides itself on providing personal, attentive support to happy clients across the Chicagoland area.
Personalization lies at the heart of Chicago Wedding DJs internal mission, and their business model.
“I started out working for a large national DJ service and quickly became one of their most requested DJs. ChicagoWeddingDJs started out as a boutique organization and didn’t think we really needed anything more than the approach we took to be successful at that other DJ company. When we tried to find better ways, I realized I could solve a problem I didn’t know we had,” shares Peter. “I ran into a client of mine from nearly 10 years ago and she said we still played the biggest role in the success of her wedding. It reminded me of how lasting the memories are, so I set out to remind our other employees. We got together and immediately loved the idea of complete personalized customization!”
Adopting Customization As a Team
At first it amazed the team like a shiny object- but Pete quickly realized it could create incredibly powerful connections. Everyone got into it pretty quickly. “It’s impressing to see the results.” said Pete. “These days it’s in 100% of what we do. The team really took off with it!” Pete laughs.
Experiencing Special Event Benefits
“I have amazing staff & clients on my team (Yes, we’re all on the same team). I want to respect their personalities, all while making sure we’re staying creative and they have everything they need. It’s tricky to set aside your thoughts and really feeling what the client has to say. But that’s where the clues are when it comes to creating the Magic.”
He emphasizes the importance of casual interactions with his clients. “Being in the creative process just makes me feel more comfortable engaging with everyone, and saying ‘hey, how’s the planning process going?’ The fact that I can regularly check in with any of our clients without the anxiety of all the planning process, is now critical to how I engage with them.” Not having personal connections is a thing of the past for the ChicagoWeddingDJs team.
His clientele enjoys 24 hour online access and tip-top accessibility. “We pride ourselves on being available on a regular basis to our clients, and able to respond quickly to their needs. Using online applications, current technology, and the philosophy of personal customization means we can create the right moment for our clients precious memories, by identifying their needs, and create a plan with plenty of time to spare. This gives us an edge that our customers really appreciate.”
Improving Wedding Planning Culture and Good Feelings for Couples
Pete is also fond of the more social, engagement building aspects of customization and how it helps everyone maintain those good feelings. “Every company has busy clients, and ChicagoWeddingDJs makes them feel more comfortable planning. There’s less of a resistance to discovering amazing creative outcomes. They’re in control of knowing what they choose and when it takes place, and that raises the comfort level of our connection.” His team is simply more relaxed in their client discussions than ever before. “It’s a philosophy that adds pleasant interaction to the planning process of a busy wedding couple,” he adds. “It allows everyone to naturally come together to get work done.”
It’s not work really. High success rates are critical to a healthy work life, but it can be harder to achieve when a couple is long distance. Pete says it takes extra work to keep in touch and connections consistently high.
“It can get really busy, so I make sure I pay special attention to my clients personal schedules. What’s great is that they have an opportunity to choose convenient times to connect, such as our monthly happy messages. We even have a virtual recording studio!” he exclaims.
“That sense of personalization that is so important at a wedding celebration is already in place for our new clients. When we welcome new clients aboard, they become comfortable working with us quickly. I’m lucky to have a great system that creates and maintains such a fun, highly personal experience for them!”
