You are planning a wedding in Cancun, Jamaica or anywhere out of the country.
Or you are from Illinois, live in Minnesota, are planning a wedding in Wisconsin, or Colorado, or California.
You have a lot of long distance planning to attend to. And you can do it. It takes determination and focus to plan a wedding, whether you are doing it all in your backyard or in the far corners of the world.
If it is a destination wedding for you and your guests, a wedding planner is an invaluable choice. Your planner will know the area, will know the vendors, will help you with your destination wedding costs, and have the kind of relationships to get you the best price and the best service.
But what if you want to have your Chicago Wedding DJ or any vendor that you know from your area be a part of the team? There will be the extra expense of travel and lodging. It might even add cost for additional days spent on location. but if the person you want is worth it, you’ll love the result.
Is it necessary to do a site survey with your vendor at the destination? This could be cost prohibitive, but just as invaluable as having a wedding planner. If you cannot get your long distance vendor to the location prior to the date, a wedding planner is a must. Your wedding planner will coordinate all of the details, and give you the knowledge of the area that you need.
But if you can get your vendor there with you to do a walkthrough-priceless!
Here’s 5 things to remember when having your vendor join you for your destination celebration:
- Will there be equipment (and backup) or do they need to bring their own?
- What if they can’t make it do to illness, emergency, or travel difficulties?
- How will you stay in touch through the months to come?
- Will there be more than one person on their team?
- If you can’t have your vendor join you, will you personally meet and guarantee the destination’s vendor?
If you are a destination wedding planner, would love to hear from you about how you take care of this for your clients. Leave a response below.
And if you are planning an out of town wedding, what’s it been like long distance?
Thanks!
