Why you’ll NEVER be able to afford a wedding photographer
Here’s why you’ll never be able to afford a wedding photographer.
My wife and I were BM and MOH at our best friends wedding. (Her best friend, married my best friend. Cool right?) My company provided their DJ, and I recommended my fave photographer. Well, when we got engaged I found out that my fave was not available. Bummer! Luckily we connected with another and it turned out great.
One offbeatbride.com perspective:
“So, I said, “fuck it.” We would not hire a photographer. If we were to regret it, then so be it. At least we would be honest to our own values. And you know what? I DON’T REGRET IT!”
She got what she wanted. No group shots, no hundreds of pictures, no editing. Did she get lucky? Or did she just lower her standards enough in hoping to get just one good picture of her and her husband?
She did take a trip down memory lane in her inspiration. A couple of generations ago, she says, it was not uncommon to have only a dozen pictures, maybe just one.
Well guess what, my parents only had a handful of pictures, and quite frankly I miss not seeing more. So to make the argument that “once upon a time” there were less doesn’t work for me.
This was an extreme case as their TOTAL wedding budget was $1500.
So let’s be fair. Do you think there are more brides that choose not to budget for pro photography and are DISAPPOINTED after the wedding than there are not?
Do you think there are more heartbroken brides who hire an amateur, show the styles they like, give them a list, expect that the photog at least has decent gear, who still get crappy snapshots at their wedding?
Why you’ll NEVER be able to afford a wedding photographer? Because there will always be a photographer that costs more than the last one.
Find the photographer you like, budget accordingly. You won’t regret it.
What do you think is a good budget range for a wedding photographer?
