Should you have a 4th of July Wedding? 5.5 ideas for a fun Summer Wedding that will absolutely guarantee you have the most memorable event of your life.
4th of July Wedding
1. Embrace the theme?
How much should you embrace the theme? A little bit? A little bit more? Or go all the way?
LITTLE Subtle choices. Stars on your invitations. Touches of color on save the dates. Elements in your centerpieces.
Little bit MORE by updating your linen colors. Star’s & Stripes candles to match.
ALL the way, you could encourage your guests to add colors of the day to their dress. The men might wear a 4th bowtie, or add a pocket square.
Your photo booth could have all patriotic props and signs.
2. It’s A Holiday
There are pros and cons to having an event on any holiday.
Let people know far in advance so that they don’t plan a vacation around your date. Or if they want to plan a vacation, your wedding could be part of the destination!
Traffic. Any other event can effect your guests arrival. For a 4th of July Wedding anywhere near a beach or municipal gathering for the holiday, you’ll experience longer delays. Factor in how and when your guests will get there.
Once you’re all together it will be really nice.
3. Remember your guests
Summer time can be a hot time. Will there be fans, or air conditioning? Don’t make guests sit out in the sun too long, provide them with refreshments right away. Sunglasses!
4. Pets?
Should there be pets at your wedding?
A beloved pet dyed in the colors of the day is a cute idea. But who will take care of your pet during the off times. And will they be comfortable in the conditions and around other people?
For our 4th of July Wedding we had a friends dog at the rehearsal dinner. Fun!
5. Fireworks
It’s a 4th of July Wedding, right?
Anything you can do to safely add sparkle to your event. Gobo lighting, animated monogram, Glow necklace finale. Go for it. Your photographer will love you.
5.5 What about music?
The right songs at the right time will remind people even more about how special this day is. But if you go over the top with too many parade like Sousa marches it will get tired fast.
Here’s our Year In Review with a reference to the holiday!
