Ok, I know you’re not going to be actually breaking open a piggy bank for your wedding budget. But there are so many things to think about when planning a wedding. It can get pretty complicated. These 3 Reasons to Set Your Wedding Budget Before Choosing Your Date will help you a lot.
#1: Location, location, location
You and your fiancé are super busy. After the proposal you might have already talked about a particular date. I know my wife and I did.
If you start with a budget in mind first it will help you when you go to look at locations. You’ll know right away which venues fit into your budget and which are either to high (or too low) to consider.
Narrowing down the field before you got out to look at them will make this a ton easier.
#2: Do you have a dream vendor?
You may be set on hiring your favorite vendor for your wedding. You’ll need to know two things: Are they available for your date, and what do they charge?
But because you are setting a budget before your set your date you will only need to know a range of what they might charge so you can fit it into your budget plan. If you are set on setting your date, then of course ask about availability.
There might even be a range of dates that they are available if you can be flexible with your date. If not, don’t worry. You can still have your heart set on that date, and find ways to work in your vendor.
And if they are not available for your dream date, they might be able to suggest some other vendors.
#3: Speaking of a Date Range
There’s nothing wring with setting a date range before you set your budget. This might effect your pricing based on some times of the year when services are at a premium.
Just check your calendar and see what the dates are. Make sure there aren’t any big events going on (your favorite team in the World Series, someone else’s wedding or special event…)
Knowing what the premium dates are for the year, and when your guests will be available will effect your budget count. What happens often is the second you have an approximate budget set, you can start locking in the date and the vendors you want.
