International Women’s Day 2019 BalanceforBetter is the campaign theme . Find out what this means. And see how you can plan for this year of action.
International Women’s Day 2019 BalanceforBetter
First of all International Women’s Day is a global day. It celebrates the:
- social
- economic
- cultural
- and political achievements of women
The first International Women’s Day happened in 1911, to mark a call to action for accelerating gender balance. It was supported by over one million people.
What I like about this call to action is that it drives for a better working world. And in turn a better life for all people.
Furthermore it involves a year long activity. And encourages us to collaborate. It doesn’t just stop on International Women’s Day.

Some of my favorite inspirational quotes for the day
If you obey all the rules, you’ll miss all the fun. -Katherine Hepburn
The most effective way to do it, is to do it. -Amelia Earhart
No one can make you feel inferior without your consent. -Eleanor Roosevelt
Do your thing and don’t care off they like it. -Tina Fey
What To Wear
In 2017 IWD was all about the red. In 2018, they changed.
Pantone made ultra-violet as the 2018 color. International Women’s Day ran with that.
It was also used as the Women’s Liberation movement.
Purple is powerful AF. And empowering.
You could also wear:
Black for Solidarity
Red for Power
White for Purity
Green for Hope
Pink for Femininity
Finally because Purple seems to be the official color that would be the best. Purple stands for dignity. And it’s the color of loyalty. It exhorts you to remain constant in you purpose. It’s also the color of self-respect.
